2026 Admissions for Master's Program, Doctoral Program, and Research Students
■ To Prospective Applicants for the 2026 Winter Entrance Examination of the Master's Program (Doctoral Program - First Stage)
Regarding the graduate school’s winter entrance examination scheduled for January 2026, please be informed that the laboratory has already reached full capacity with successful applicants from the summer entrance examination.
As a result, we will not be accepting applications for the Master's Program (Doctoral Program - First Stage) during the winter entrance examination. Even if you pass the exam, you will not be assigned to our laboratory.
We appreciate your understanding.
■ To Prospective Applicants for the 2026 Winter Entrance Examination of the Doctoral Program (Second Stage)
We are continuing to accept applications for the Doctoral Program (Second Stage) through the upcoming winter entrance examination.
As the entrance examination for the Doctoral Program generally consists of only an oral interview, and there is minimal (essentially no) coursework required after enrollment, applicants with backgrounds outside of engineering or mechanical systems are also welcome.
We encourage applications from individuals with diverse academic backgrounds and strong motivation.
■ To Those Wishing to Enroll as Research Students
We plan to accept a limited number of research students for enrollment in April or October 2026.
We welcome students who wish to advance to either the Master's Program (Doctoral Program - First Stage) or the Doctoral Program (Second Stage) after joining as research students.
Recruitment of students and joint research
The Hase Laboratory is widely recruiting students both inside and outside the university and for collaborative research.
To all 3rd year students at Tokyo Metropolitan University
Although this laboratory is part of the Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, most of our research targets are humans, not machines. There are challenges that are different from dealing with machines, and there is also fun. Additionally, our laboratory conducts many joint research projects with companies and other universities. In many cases, you will be involved in your graduation research with such companies and other universities, and you will get a real sense of how connected the university is to society. Please come and visit our laboratory.
To all other universities and international students
Our laboratory actively accepts students from other universities who wish to enroll or continue their studies, as well as international students. If you are interested, please contact us via email. We will be able to provide you with appropriate advice regarding the information necessary for admission. However, there is a problem with the capacity of the laboratory, and there is a limit to the number of people that can be accepted. Please understand this point.
To all companies
Our laboratory has a track record of joint research with many companies. We welcome collaborations not only with major companies, but also with so-called small and medium-sized companies. We recognize that it is extremely important to return basic research conducted at universities to society. In addition to joint research, I also have experience as an in-house training instructor. If you have any questions, please contact us directly or through the Industry-Academia-Public Collaboration Center .
